New UCWRFC Record!

UCWRFC broke an all-time record this weekend after defeating Marshall 102-0 and finishing the conference 6-0- undefeated and ready for the conference playoffs this weekend. This time we kept actually kept track of our scorers! Top scorers for this game were Maddy "Conk" Conklin with 4 tries, Jess "Mango" Sang with 2 tries, and Jorey Bischof with 2 tries. More points were put on the board by Natalie Crockett, Alaina Tarr, Meredith "Sprout" Hinger, Emily Koslovsky, Kaylan Birks, Paige "Versace" Visagie, Maddie Boyd, and Allison "Jimbus" Kossen. Conversion kicks were scored by the usual squad, Sprout and Koslovsky, with Sprout racking in a total of 8 conversion kicks and Koslovsky following with 3.

Players of the Match this week are the one and only Paige "Versace" Visagie and Delanie "Fiat" Hostetler-Greco! Versace had a great match this weekend even though we whored her out to Marshall when they were in need of subs for a hot second. She had a ton of great runs and impeccable ball control, leading to her scoring a try in the second half. She is a hard worker during practices and has been a really great leader for the new rookies in the back line. Versace is an active member of the Executive Board as our lovely Fundraising Chair. "I play rugby because it's super fun and always challenging," Versace told us. "Everyone on the team has made my time at college actually enjoyable (plus they all love and support my dog Bear)." Versace is a Women, Gender and Sexualities Major at the University of Cincinnati and is a student worker on campus in the Event Services and Campus Scheduling Office. Fiat had her best game yet this season! She was ON TOP of her tackling and had fantastic field coverage. She turned on her adrenaline mid-game and started destroying every single ruck, giving us possession numerous times. "I started rugby because I love competition, contact sports, and stress relief. Plus, you can play rugby regardless of your size," she said. "I started playing last semester (Spring 2017), and prior to that, I had never even considered it. However, joining has been the best decision I've made since moving to Cincinnati." Delanie is a Chemical Engineering Major at the University of Cincinnati and is involved in AIChE, SWE, and is a member of the National Society of Collegiate Scholars on campus. #IchWillDeinTeamKennenlernen
