Wait Where’s the Field?

UCWRFC traveled down to Lexington, KY to play our friends from the University of Kentucky. We got a little lost along the way trying to find their new swanky turf field but made our way there eventually. Your lady ruggers walked away with a 126-0 win over the Wildcats.

Our forwards did such an amazing job this game that we had to pick 2 of them as our players of the match: Emily Koslovsky and Kendra Peterson.

Emily had her best game to date! “Emily was really fast off the scrums at was at almost every breakdown to support,” Captain Abby “Woody” Lowman raved. Emily made some amazing tackles and one in particular that was so beautiful you just had to be there to witness. Emily is a 2nd year nursing major and outside of making killer tackles, she coaches rookie rugby. Emily chose to play rugby because she enjoys the family aspect and comradery of the sport even outside of the team. "You have an immediate bond with anyone who has played rugby before - it's amazing!"

Kendra made her 2018 return this week after being injured last season. She's switched it up on us and left the backs and transitioned into the forwards (the backs are crying). However, she killed it her first game back by scoring not one, but two tries and being a powerhouse in the scrums. Kendra is a third year athletic training major and outside of handing out stiff arms and tossing around a rugby ball she is involved with REHABCATS. REHABCATS is an organization for students involved in athletic training that meets to discuss the newest research and volunteer opportunities for the community. Kendra chose to play rugby it was different and wanted to meet new people in college.

We also want to give a HUGE shoutout to Delanie Hostetler and Alyssa Powell for scoring their first tries! Keep up the hard work ladies!
